The Odyssey IMAX tickets touch Rs 3,200 in India as advance bookings open
text_fieldsAdvance bookings for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey have opened to strong demand in India, with ticket prices at some premium IMAX theatres reaching as high as Rs 3,200.
The film, scheduled for a worldwide release on July 17, 2026, is being promoted as the first feature film shot entirely with IMAX cameras, driving interest among moviegoers seeking the large-screen experience.
Advance bookings at IMAX theatres across India began on June 8, and several shows started filling up soon after tickets went on sale. While ticket prices at most IMAX locations range between Rs 700 and Rs 1,200, some premium venues have set significantly higher rates.
An IMAX theatre in Pune is reportedly charging around Rs 3,000 for evening shows, while recliner seats at certain cinemas in Mumbai have been priced at up to Rs 3,200.
Pricing varies widely across cities.
In Mumbai, tickets at Inox Malad start at Rs 450 for morning shows, while evening screenings at Cinepolis Seawoods can cost up to Rs 2,000. In the National Capital Region, tickets at PVR Priya begin at Rs 450, with recliner seats priced up to Rs 1,400. Inox Paras is offering some of the lowest rates in the region, with select morning shows starting at Rs 370.
Chennai remains among the most affordable markets due to Tamil Nadu's ticket price regulations, with IMAX tickets capped at around Rs 508.
The strong response in India mirrors global demand for the film.
According to industry reports, around 150,000 opening weekend tickets have already been sold worldwide through early premium-format bookings. By comparison, Oppenheimer had sold about 65,000 tickets at a similar stage before its 2023 release.
The early demand has also benefited cinema chains, with AMC reportedly recording its biggest first-day ticket sales for a studio film since 2022.
