Salman Khan answers why Bollywood films are not working, slams “wrong movies”
text_fieldsMumbai: Bollywood actor Salman Khan was recently asked why Hindi films are failing at the box office when South Indian films are doing well back to back.
The Tiger Zinda Hai actor said that the reason is the "wrong films". He said, "I have been saying this for a long time. Hindi films are not working. Ab galat picture banaoge, toh kaise chalega? I have met some new directors and producers who appear to be very 'cool'. They think Hindustan is from Andheri to Colaba. This is not Hindustan. It starts from the east of the railway stations."
He noted that India is far more extensive and filmmakers need to acknowledge the diversity and complexity of the nation's regions and cultures to create content that will appeal to audiences.
"Everyone thinks that they are making some Mughal-E-Azam or Hum Aapke Hain Koun, but that's not happening," he added. However, the actor also took a dig at himself and said, "These words should not bite me. People shouldn't question what kind of film I have made."
Salman Khan's latest project 'Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan' is hitting theaters on April 21 on the occasion of Eid.
