text_fieldsKochi: Pathonpatham Noottandu has launched its trailer on Metaverse and has become the first Malayalam movie to do so. A 3D space was prepared in the Metaverse linked to the story and ambiance of the film that deals with the history of Travancore.
Directed by Vinayan, the big-budget pan-India film is about Arattupuzha Velayudha Panicker, an Ezhava chieftain who fought against the caste system. The film takes place in British India and portrays life in the 19th century.
The trailer launch began with director Vinayan and producer Gokulam Gopalan talking about the film. The event took place in a royal palace and the durbar hall was turned into a big-screen movie theatre. The trailer was shown on this screen. Lead actor Siju Wilson, executive producer Krishnamurthy, cameraman Shajikumar and actor Vishnu Vinayan were also present at the function held at Kochi.
XR Horizon operating at the Kerala Startup Village in Kalamasery developed the Meta application for the film.
Vinayan said he is proud to have integrated the new concept of Metaverse with his film. He said: "The art of cinema is closely related to technology, so we had decided to adopt this new technology in this movie. It won't take long for Metaverse to become the movie hub of tomorrow."
He described Metaverse to be a place where the real world is recreated in virtual space. "Everything will be reproduced there as 3D versions and 3D models of humans, and they will be known as avatars. Everyone can create their own avatars as per their choice."
Gokulam Group is planning to open Meta experience centres in malls in major cities of Kerala so that people can watch the trailer for free. Audiences can access the special features offered through the new technology.
Pathonpatham Noottandu is set to release on September 8 as on Onam release.
