Bengaluru: The Bengaluru-based IT company Infosys is facing a lawsuit in a US court as a former executive filed a complaint against it last year, accusing it of discrimination in hiring employees. The complaint alleged that the company practised discrimination based on age, gender and nationality, NDTV reported.

The lawsuit named former senior VP and head of consulting Mark Livingston and former partners Dan Albright and Jerry Kurtz.

A former Vice President of Talent Acquisition at Infosys, Jill Prejean, said that she was directed not to hire workers of Indian origin, women with children and those aged above 50 years.

In September 2021, before the United States District Court for the southern district of New York, Prejean submitted against the company, its former executives and partners.

Reports suggested that according to Prejean's statement, she was shocked about the illegal, discriminatory approach by the company on age, gender etc. NDTV quoted her that she was "shocked to find a rampant culture of illegal, discriminatory animus among the partner level executives based on age, gender, and caregiver status".

Her statement further said that she attempted to change the said culture in the company within two months of her joining it in 2018, but she was met with severe resistance from Infosys partners Jerry Kurtz and Dan Albright. She said that she was terminated from it because of not complying with the company's illegal demands in hiring senior executives.

Meanwhile, Infosys has filed a motion to quash the suit. It demanded the dismissal of the suit stating that Prejean had not brought any proof to back her allegations.

But the court rejected Infosys's motion and directed it to file a response within 21 days.
