Sardinia: Radoslaw Grzegorz Ostakiewicz, a mayor from Poland, lost balance while sitting on the windowsill and fell to his death from the fourth floor. He was visiting a village on the island of Sardinia in Italy.
The 44-year-old is the mayor of the southern Polish town of Jaworze and was staying at the Hotel Due Colonne in Cagliari, Italy with a Polish delegation.
According to the Caligari Police, the death is not being investigated as a suicide and there was no violence involved. A press release from the village municipality described the incident as "tragic" and an "unfortunate accident". "Our thoughts are with loved ones. Mayor, family, acquaintances, friends, and residents of the commune. Honour his memory," it said.
