At least 787 killed in US-Israeli airstrikes in Iran, says Red Crescent

Dubai: Airstrikes carried out by the United States and Israel have killed at least 787 people in Iran since the outbreak of the war, the Iranian Red Crescent Society said on Tuesday.

The humanitarian organisation released the updated toll in a post on X. A day earlier, it had reported at least 555 deaths across 131 cities in strikes it described as “Zionist-American terrorist attacks.”

The conflict escalated sharply on Saturday when the United States and Israel launched large-scale attacks that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Explosions were reported overnight in Tehran as well as in other cities, including Isfahan, Shiraz and Hamadan.

State-run IRNA reported that at least five people were killed or wounded in airstrikes in Hamadan, in western Iran.

On Tuesday, Israel’s military said Iran’s firepower had been “significantly limited” following joint US-Israeli strikes targeting missile launchers.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that authorities have begun returning around 9,000 pilgrims from Mecca and Medina via Iraq. Separately, the Lebanese army is redeploying troops along the Israeli border amid ongoing Israeli operations in southern Lebanon.
