New Delhi: Ending her 30 years of married life with Bill Gates was painful, said Melinda French Gates in an interview.
Melinda opened up about her difficult time over a year after divorcing Bill Gates in August 2021.
The 58-year-old associate of Melinda Gates Foundation told Fortune Magazine that she had some reason that she couldn't stay in the marriage anymore.
They got married in 1994 and have three children together- Jennifer, Rory and Phoebe.
Covid period gave her the privacy she needed to think over her life with Bill Gates.
Deciding to end nuptial tie was unbelievably painful in many ways, she said, adding that she had privacy to get through it.
The couple announced their decision to part ways in May 2021 after nearly 3 decades of being together.
They however decided to continue run together the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
However, divorce was difficult for her as she kept working with the person she was moving away from, Melinda said in the interview,
Minutes before her virtual meetings with her former husband she would be crying, later showing up her best at the meeting.
She told the magazine that her main concern was to protect her kids through their parents' parting.
