Large fire at a Thailand nightclub leaves 13 dead, 35 injured

Bangkok: At least 13 people have been killed and 35 injured when a fire broke out at a nightclub in the wee hours of Friday in Thailand, police said.

One photo of the incident shows people running away in panic from a building engulfed in orange flames.

The fire reportedly broke out at about 1 a.m. at the Mountain B nightclub, which sits in the Sattahip district of Chonburi province, southeast of Bangkok.

Sattahip is a popular tourist destination about 30 kilometers south of Pattaya City.

There was live music was happening in the nightclub when the fire broke out, CNN reported quoting Police Colonel Wuttipong Somjai.

All victims were Thai nationals and those getting treated have burn injuries ranging from "mild to serious", report said.

Police have opened an investigation into the cause of the fire.
