The eye-popping architectural marvel, the Hindu temple in Dubai will open its doors to devotees on Wednesday.
Dubai's Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan is the chief guest, while Indian Ambassador to the UAE Sunjay Sudhir is the guest of honour at the ceremony, local media reported.
The milky whitish edifice is a blend of what looks like old-style carved pillars that support entablature at the entrance, where a flight of steps lead to the luminous indoors of the temple sitting in Jebel Ali's 'Worship Village'.
Housed amidst the Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara and a number of churches, it comprises 16 deities and a Guru Granth Sahib, the Holy Book of the Sikhs, according to a report in Indian Express.
Gulf News reported that temple, open to people of all faiths, was inaugurated on September 1.
What is called as UAE's first community-driven temple is founded in 2022 as a space informed by tradition, nurtured by faith and crafted for the future, according to a statement by temple authorities.
The statement added that the temple is a contemporary spiritual hub, for all faiths, that houses the many faces of divinity from communal connection to worship, knowledge and societal aid.
Temple trustee Raju Shroff was quoted saying that the benevolence of the Rulers of the UAE and the gracious support of the Community Development Authority (CDA), the official inaugural ceremony of the Hindu Temple Dubai will happen tomorrow evening.
Several high-profile CDA officials are expected to attend the ceremony. Raju Shroff added that temple will open its doors for visitors from Wednesday for Dussehra.
The website for the temple encourages visitors to book half-an-hour slots with their name, mobile number, email ID and maximum the number of visitors allowed in a group is four, reports say.
