New York: The Los Angeles County sheriff's police arrived at a house in Lancaster after receiving a distress call and shot dead the black woman who made the call, reports say.
Niani Finlayson, 27, dialed the emergency helpline number 911 to report a domestic violence involving her boyfriend on December 4.
The deputies arrived at her house and a confrontation broke out leading to fatal shooting of the woman as her daughter watched.
She called up to report that her boyfriend allegedly ‘would not leave her alone and then screaming and sounds of a struggle could be heard’. the LA County Sheriff's department reportedly said.
When the LA County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the apartment in East Avenue, they reportedly heard people arguing and yelling inside.
They forced open the door and found a woman holding a large kitchen knife threatening to stab her boyfriend, police claimed.
She threatened she would stab her boyfriend because he pushed her nine-year-old daughter.
Afterwards she rushed to where her friend was sitting and grabbed him holding the knife in one hand.
In the confrontation that followed the woman received multiple gunshots in front of her daughter.
After she died in a hospital, homicide investigators responded to the incident initiating a probe.
British newspaper The Guardian reported citing the family’s attorney that woman dialed 911 to remove her boyfriend who injured her.
