7.2 earthquake shakes southern Peru; no damages reported

Lima: The Tirapata region of southern Peru was shaken by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake on Thursday, Reuters reported citing the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

However, no incidents of damage or injury or casualties have been reported so far. Also, no Tsunami Warning has been issued by the US Tsunami Warning System.

USGS informed that the quake originated from a depth of 212km.

Earlier, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the quake was a magnitude 7.
