6.3-magnitude earthquake in Nepal; tremors felt in Lucknow, UP, Delhi

Lucknow: After a 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal on Wednesday, strong tremors were felt in Lucknow and other central Uttar Pradesh areas, causing many people to flee their homes in the middle of the night, according to the National Center for Seismology.

People waited outside of their homes for about two hours after the earthquakes were felt due to widespread panic.

The tremors lasted for nearly 10 seconds and were reported from several parts of the state.

The depth of the earthquake was nearly 10 km, according to the National Center for Seismology.

"Earthquake of Magnitude: 6.3, occurred on November 9, 2022, 01:57:24 IST, Latitude: 29.24 & Longitude: 81.06, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: Nepal," the National Center for Seismology tweeted.

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake on Tuesday at 9:07 p.m. and a 4.1-magnitude one shortly after at 9:56 p.m. preceded the stronger tremor that jolted western Nepal.

It claimed that the epicentre was the same.
