IPL: 8th century for Virat Kohli; becomes 1st to surpass 7500+ runs

Jaipur: Indian superstar batter Virat Kohli scored his eighth Indian Premier League (IPL) century against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday and became the only player to surpass 7500 IPL runs. Kohli’s glittering performance took Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a competitive total of 183/3 in 20 overs against RR in match 19 of the season at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here.

Kohli hit 12 fours and four sixes to score an unbeaten 113 off 72 balls and scored his highest ever. He smashed pacers to score 67 off 39 and spinners to score 46 off 33. When he scored almost 62 per cent for his team’s total, the rest who batted scored 59 from 48 balls together.

However, Kohli 67 ball hundred is the slowest century in IPL, matching with Manish Pandey’s in same number of balls in 2009.

Kohli was complimented by skipper Faf du Plessis with 44 from 33 balls. He had two fours and sixes each. When du Plessis fell, Glenn Mawell came but couldn’t settle. He was castled by Nandre Burger after he score 1 run from 3 balls. Later, newbie Saurav Chauhan also came, smashed a boundary, but got out at 9.

At 17.2 overs, Cameron Green joined Kohli.
