The UAE Attorney General has concluded that the incident aboard the Flydubai flight was an attempted terrorist attack. Emerging details and statements highlight the gravity of the event, which took place on September 30. On a Boeing aircraft bound for Israel from Dubai, the co-pilot stabbed and injured the Indian pilot and attempted to seize control of the plane. The aircraft initially issued a distress signal, which was later upgraded to a hijacking alert. As the plane was rapidly losing altitude, passengers managed to enter the cockpit and overpower the co-pilot. The additional pilots on board flew the aircraft to Saudi Arabia and landed it there. Reports indicate that the co-pilot was an Omani national who had previously been dismissed by Oman Air due to ties to extremism. Most of the information regarding the attack stems from passenger accounts, official remarks, and narratives constructed by various quarters based on these details. The mysteries surrounding this incident—described as a confluence of numerous coincidences—must be brought to light through an investigation. Claims that passengers managed to enter the cockpit and overpower the attacker within seconds while the plane was plummeting, or that an untrained individual pulled a lever to halt the descent, are difficult to accept. Furthermore, Israeli and U.S. leaders had already pronounced their own verdicts even before the investigation began.

The pressures arising from the political circumstances surrounding these leaders are being highlighted in this context. Upcoming elections—due in four weeks in Israel and next month in the US—are critical for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and US President Trump. Both leaders find themselves isolated on the global stage. Netanyahu faced a widespread walkout at the UN General Assembly after attempting to portray himself as a victim amidst the genocide in Palestine. Trump, meanwhile, became a figure of ridicule before the world by using the UN forum to issue threats of violence. They have now been exposed as obstacles to peace and as people who would stop at nothing for selfish gain. Such individuals are focused on political opportunism rather than the facts. Some believe this to be an Israeli "false flag operation" (either a staged event or an act of violence allowed to proceed despite prior knowledge). On the other hand, there are those who allege that Iran is behind it. No possibility should be ruled out. At the same time, however, preconceived notions must not influence the fact-finding process. An investigation conducted solely by those interested in mobilising global opinion against Iran to intensify sanctions and military action would be far from adequate. It would be equally flawed to consider only Iran's perspective regarding a conspiracy. It is crucial to uncover the truth by examining objective evidence and taking into account the accounts of Israeli and UAE authorities, as well as the passengers and pilots involved.

This requires a broad-based, independent investigative agency; such an approach is essential for the effectiveness and credibility of the investigation. As the owners of the aircraft and the base from which it departed, UAE aviation authorities will have much to say. Saudi authorities, passengers, and pilots can also provide information. Meanwhile, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the UN Security Council are the bodies naturally responsible for ensuring a transparent and coordinated investigation into the incident. This week also marks the complete withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq. The world witnessed firsthand how numerous countries, including Iraq, were devastated through a sham investigation and fabricated narratives surrounding the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Nations that prioritised selfish interests over truth, while claiming to champion the cause of counter-terrorism, are still active in the scene, driven by those very same interests. Therefore, an investigation by an agency like ICAO, coordinated by the UN, is the appropriate course of action. The next step is to accurately uncover and make public objective evidence regarding the Flydubai incident, including the factors that provoked the co-pilot, safety lapses, and the chronology of events.  All this not to forget the key approach that this matter must not be allowed to serve as a cover for anyone's political interests.
