Critics excluded from PM economic advisory panel

New Delhi: Rathin Roy and Shamika Ravi failed to find a place in the newly constituted the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) to the Prime Minister; their exclusion comes with no specific reason.

Both Roy and Shamika Ravi belonging to the EAC-PM, an independent body which advises the government, have been highly critical of Modi government.

Earlier, Roy talked of a ‘silent fiscal crisis’ in the nation, citing the difference between the 2018-19 revised tax revenue estimates and provisional actuals.

Shamika Ravi, director of research at Brookings India, in her criticism earlier had said that the country was facing a structural slowdown.
