Srinagar: Reacting to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks that "PoK will be merged with India”, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah said Pakistan has atom bombs.
Farooq Abdullah pointed out that the neigbouring country is ‘also not wearing bangles. It has atom bombs, and unfortunately, that atom bomb will fall on us.’
Rajnath Singh earlier in April said that the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) having attracted by the developments taking place in India demanded to be with India.
"Don't worry. PoK was, is and will remain ours,": Singh told a rally at West Bengal's Darjeeling.
Claiming that India’s power and prestige is on the rise along with its economy, he said ‘Now our brothers and sisters in PoK will themselves demand to come with India’.
Alongside Singh’s remarks, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also said that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is part of India.
He said that there is a resolution of the Indian Parliament stating that PoK is part of the country, adding the region is back in the consciousness of the people of India after they were made to forget it about it.
When asked about India’s plans for PoK he said: "PoK has never been out of this country. It is part of this country. There is a resolution of the Indian Parliament that PoK is very much a part of India. Now, how did PoK, how did other people get control? You know, when you have someone who is not a responsible custodian of a house, someone steals from outside. Now, here you have allowed another country."
