SC stays inquiry in Gwalior judge sexual harassment case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday stayed inquiry in the Gwalior lady judge sexual harassment case.

It also stayed the inquiry committee set up by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The apex court has issued a notice to the Registrar General and the involved judge.

The court passed the order after the victim, who had alleged sexual harassment against a sitting Madhya Pradesh High Court judge, moved the Supreme Court on Tuesday expressing her dissatisfaction over setting up of a committee to look into her complaint.

The former woman judge had asked the Supreme Court to set up an external committee comprising of two Chief Justices and one judge of the High Court. The judge, who had resigned after the alleged sexual harassment,  also requested the Supreme Court to reinstate her as Additional District and Sessions Judge.

Earlier this month, the woman judge raised objections to the inclusion of a High Court judge in the committee set up to look into her complaint. The lady judge had resigned accusing a senior judge of sexual harassment.
