Parliament passes bill ending judges' collegium system

New Delhi: The parliament Thursday passed a bill that ends the collegium system of appointing Supreme Court judges.

The two bills passed by parliament amend the constitution for changing the process of appointing Supreme Court judges and transfer and appointments of chief justices and other judges of the high courts.

The Rajya Sabha Wednesday took up the Constitution (99th Amendment) Bill for debate, after the Lok Sabha passed it along with the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) Bill, 2014.
