Dubai RTA’s Mahboub to handle fines, car registration renewals in one chat
Paying unpaid fines and renewing your car registration could soon be handled in a single conversation with Mahboub, the Roads and Transport Authority’s virtual assistant.
RTA has upgraded the assistant to carry out linked transactions, reducing the need for customers to move between service pages or repeat steps. The enhanced version is being prepared for public rollout under the authority’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2030.
Using Agentic AI, Mahboub will coordinate the procedures needed to complete a customer’s request. A motorist seeking to renew a vehicle’s registration, for example, could settle outstanding fines before continuing with the renewal in the same chat.
Customers will verify their identity through UAE PASS and make payments through Dubai Sadad.
The initial services will cover vehicle registration renewals, vehicle fine payments, clearance certificates and renewals of number plate reservations.
Mahboub supports Arabic and English, with its language models adapted to the local context. The new capabilities will build on the information and services it already provides.
RTA expects the upgrade to reduce the number of steps involved in transactions and save customers time and effort.
Development is being carried out under the authority’s governance and cybersecurity procedures. RTA said the work supports its wider efforts to improve digital government services and strengthen public trust in them.
