Sharjah extends free public parking during unstable weather

Sharjah has extended its public parking fee exemption until further notice due to ongoing unstable weather conditions, authorities said.

The measure follows the initial suspension introduced on March 23. Sharjah City Municipality confirmed that the waiver applies to all public parking spaces across the emirate, including areas that normally require payment and are marked by blue signage.

Smart parking yards are not included in the exemption.

The decision comes as the UAE faces a week of unsettled weather. The National Centre of Meteorology has forecast rainfall moving across various parts of the country from Sunday through Friday, affecting northern, eastern, southern, coastal and inland areas, with varying intensity.

Officials said public safety remains a priority and that additional updates will be issued as conditions evolve.

Motorists have been urged to exercise caution, particularly in areas with reduced visibility and standing water on roads.
