One killed, four injured after debris from interceptions hits Abu Dhabi gas plant

One person has died and four others were injured after debris from intercepted air strikes caused fires at the Habshan gas plant in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office said the victim, an Egyptian national, died during evacuation of the site. Two Pakistani nationals and two Egyptian nationals sustained minor injuries.

Authorities said operations at the facility were suspended while emergency teams responded, adding that the fires were linked to falling debris following interceptions. An assessment is under way after damage was reported at the site.

In a separate incident, falling debris in the Ajban area injured 12 people, including seven Nepalese and five Indian nationals. One Nepalese national was reported to be in critical condition, while others sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Multiple alerts were issued across the UAE, including four in Abu Dhabi and one in Dubai.

The Ministry of Defence said air defence systems intercepted 18 ballistic missiles, four cruise missiles and 47 drones launched from Iran within 24 hours.

Since the attacks began, UAE forces have intercepted 475 ballistic missiles, 23 cruise missiles and 2,085 drones.
