Motorists using Hessa Street now have a faster drive between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road after Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority fully opened the upgraded 4.5-kilometre corridor, a route that had long been affected by congestion. Similar coverage of the opening has focused on the sharp drop in travel time and the completion of widening and bridge works along the corridor.
The upgrade allows smoother traffic flow in both directions between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, cutting journey time from 15 minutes to four minutes.
For commuters travelling through Al Barsha, Al Sufouh 2 and Jumeirah Village Circle, the completion eases a longstanding bottleneck and improves movement along one of Dubai’s busy road links.
The project includes widening the road and upgrading key intersections at Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Asayel Street, First Al Khail Street and Al Khail Road. Each direction now carries four lanes, while the full set of intersection bridges has also been completed.
