Odisha signs five MoUs in Dubai, receives eight investment intents worth $880m
India’s Odisha state signed five memoranda of understanding and received eight investment intents in Dubai with a combined potential value of $880 million and scope to create 14,310 jobs.
The agreements were announced on the second day of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s UAE visit, which included meetings with government officials, global investors, industry representatives and business institutions.
The Chief Minister’s Office said the proposals covered information technology and IT-enabled services, real estate, logistics, food and agro-processing, steel and downstream industries, rare earths, chemicals, aluminium and the circular economy.
Majhi met Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, to discuss closer economic and investment links and opportunities for UAE-based companies in Odisha.
The Chief Minister said Odisha was creating better conditions for investors through updated policies, infrastructure projects, easier business procedures and responsive governance.
He invited international companies to take part in the state’s industrial development and sustainable economic growth.
A roundtable on aluminium downstream industries examined opportunities throughout Odisha’s aluminium value chain, including downstream manufacturing, value-added industries and technology-based production.
Majhi also met members of the Indian Business and Professional Council in Dubai to discuss investment, commercial links and wider economic engagement between Odisha and the UAE.
During a visit to Emirates Global Aluminium, he reviewed industrial operations, technologies and international practices in the aluminium sector.
A separate roundtable with the Bureau of Middle East Recycling focused on recycling, resource efficiency and opportunities linked to the circular economy.
Majhi also held individual and group meetings with investors and business leaders to present opportunities in technology, real estate, logistics, food processing, chemicals, aluminium, steel downstream industries, rare earths and recycling.
Odisha said the Dubai meetings were intended to convert investor interest into projects, develop sector-specific partnerships and create employment and economic opportunities in the state.
