The Mohammed bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC), part of the Endowment and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai (Awqaf Dubai), has launched an expanded phase of its “Bread for All” initiative. Smart devices are deployed to dispense hot meals to labor communities around the clock.
The new phase focuses on using technology to increase the initiative’s social impact. Each device includes a digital touchscreen, a refrigeration system to maintain food freshness and smart sensors to track stock levels and maintenance needs. A beneficiary identification system allows users to receive one meal daily, ensuring fair distribution.
Several units have been installed near mosques in Dubai, with plans to add more across the emirate based on community needs.
Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf Dubai, said the initiative reflects Dubai’s humanitarian values and supports innovative endowment models aimed at community welfare. He noted that individuals and businesses can contribute through donations, sponsorships or meal provisions.
Zainab Juma Al Tamimi, Director of MBRGCEC, said the expansion follows the initiative’s initial success in 2022, when thousands of hot loaves were distributed daily. The upgraded devices now feature remote monitoring and a wider variety of meals, ensuring continuous and efficient service.
“Bread for All” was first introduced in 2022 to provide food to labor segments through smart, endowment-funded distribution systems that preserve dignity and promote social solidarity.
