Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday during his official visit to New Delhi. The discussions, which took place at Hyderabad House, focused on reinforcing the long-standing relationship between the UAE and India, with both leaders exploring cooperation across multiple sectors.
Sheikh Khaled conveyed greetings from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed to Prime Minister Modi, who reciprocated the sentiments.
During his visit, the Crown Prince also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat memorial, observing a moment of silence and laying a wreath at the revered leader’s shrine.
Sheikh Khaled continued the tradition of UAE leaders by tending to trees planted by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1975 and Sheikh Mohamed in 2016. In a gesture symbolizing friendship between the two nations, he planted his own tree at the memorial.
Expressing pride in the fraternity between the UAE and India, Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed that continued collaboration would promote growth and deepen the bond between the nations. He concluded his visit by writing a message in the Raj Ghat guestbook, honouring Gandhi's legacy of peace and unity, comparing it to the humanitarian values instilled by UAE’s Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed.
In a separate meeting, Sheikh Khaled met Indian President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he reaffirmed the commitment to expanding economic partnerships and signed the guestbook, emphasizing the historical ties between the two countries.
As part of the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), several strategic agreements were announced.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) signed a 15-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) agreement with IndianOil, a government-owned company. Adnoc also extended its oil storage agreement with Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited to further support India’s energy security.
Additionally, Abu Dhabi-based ADQ is partnering with Gujarat’s government to develop a food and agriculture park using advanced technology.
Further, the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation partnered with India’s Nuclear Power Corporation to share knowledge and expertise in nuclear energy development.
