ADNOC has launched a global liquefied natural gas marketing and trading platform in Abu Dhabi Global Market, bringing together the LNG marketing strength of ADNOC Gas and XRG with ADNOC Trading’s commercial and trading operations.
The platform gives Abu Dhabi a larger role in global LNG markets as ADNOC and XRG target a combined marketable LNG portfolio of 47 million tonnes per annum by 2035.
The new structure will handle LNG marketing from a single base in Abu Dhabi while drawing on ADNOC Trading’s established trading network and shipping capabilities.
The launch comes as ADNOC Gas expands its LNG portfolio, including future volumes from Ruwais LNG, and XRG grows its international gas and infrastructure business.
ADNOC said the platform will help manage a larger and more diverse LNG portfolio, building on the company’s record as a long-standing supplier. ADNOC Gas has supplied LNG since 1977 and delivered more than 3,500 cargoes worldwide.
Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, ADNOC Managing Director and Group Chief Executive, and XRG Executive Chairman, said, “With LNG demand set to grow substantially, the world will need reliable, responsible and trusted suppliers at scale. This world-class, integrated commercial LNG platform brings together the full strength of ADNOC’s marketing, trading and shipping capabilities to create a single global hub in Abu Dhabi”.
Rashid Al Mazrouei has been appointed Chief Marketing and Origination Officer for LNG. He will oversee the combined equity LNG portfolios of XRG and ADNOC Gas and lead long-term LNG marketing and origination from ADGM.
ADNOC Gas’s existing LNG commercial agreements will remain unchanged. The company said the new platform is expected to create further value by improving how LNG volumes, including future Ruwais LNG volumes, are marketed.
XRG’s growing LNG portfolio will add international scale, with supply hubs and offices in London and Abu Dhabi.
Long-term LNG marketing will be centralised through the new platform. ADNOC Trading will remain the counterparty for trading activities, with no change to existing customer interfaces.
ADNOC Trading has built a major third-party LNG portfolio within four years and is ranked among the top global LNG financial traders, with offices in Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Geneva.
Shipping will be central to the platform’s reach. ADNOC Trading’s LNG shipping desk ranked among the top global LNG charterers in physical cargoes and freight derivatives in 2025.
ADNOC Logistics and Services has expanded its owned LNG fleet to 20 vessels, including 14 modern two-stroke carriers, giving the group more capacity to support UAE LNG production and international trade.
