Abu Dhabi warns of heavy rain, hail until Friday

Abu Dhabi has issued a weather warning as the UAE prepares for several days of heavy rain, hail and strong winds.

Abu Dhabi Media Office asked the public to exercise caution during rainfall expected to continue until at least Friday.

The advisory covers Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, with the possibility of small hail in some limited areas.

The National Centre of Meteorology has forecast rainfall of varying intensity in the capital, accompanied by strong winds that could stir up dust and reduce visibility.

Motorists have been asked to drive carefully, follow any changes to speed limits and avoid valleys during unstable weather.

The NCM also called on residents to take precautions and follow official guidance during hailfall.

Northern and eastern parts of the UAE are expected to see clouds, rain and lower visibility until Friday.

Rain is forecast in parts of Fujairah and Al Ain from Tuesday through the week, after heavy showers hit Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday.

Residents were seen enjoying the downpour, while camels were also pictured in the rain as the showers brought relief from the summer heat.

The NCM’s weekly forecast shows cloud cover over much of the country from Wednesday, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi expected to reach highs of 46°C.

Winds of up to 50kph on Wednesday and Thursday may whip up dust and sand, reducing visibility on roads.
