Abu Dhabi boosts traffic flow by 40% with new lanes at major intersection

The Integrated Transport Centre (AD Mobility) announced significant traffic improvements at the intersection of Sultan bin Zayed and First Street, aimed at easing congestion and enhancing pedestrian safety.

The new lanes, designed to handle an additional 3,500 vehicles, are expected to boost traffic flow efficiency by 40%, according to AD Mobility. Alongside these improvements, pedestrian pathways have been developed to improve movement and safety for those crossing the busy intersection.

In a bid to further enhance mobility options, bicycle lanes are also being developed as part of the wider initiative to create a more sustainable and accessible urban infrastructure.

These enhancements are part of Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to improve road conditions, reduce traffic bottlenecks and promote alternative transportation options like cycling. The upgrade is a key development in accommodating the city’s growing traffic needs and ensuring smoother commutes for residents.
