The Royal Commission for Riyadh City will begin full operations of the Western Station in the Riyadh Metro project on Friday, May 15, as part of ongoing efforts to expand the capital’s public transport network.
The Western Station is one of the metro’s four main stations and completes the rollout of the network’s principal hubs alongside King Abdullah Financial District Station, STC Al Olaya Station and Qasr Al Hokm Station.
Officials said the opening reflects continued progress in Riyadh’s transport infrastructure plans aimed at improving mobility, raising public transport use and supporting the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The station has received LEED Gold certification for design efficiency and environmental sustainability. It is also the largest among the project’s four major stations.
Built across 112,000 square metres, the station includes commercial areas, public facilities, a mosque with capacity for 550 worshippers and parking spaces for more than 600 vehicles.
The station is designed to handle more than 60,000 metro passengers and 1,300 bus passengers per hour, strengthening connections across Riyadh’s transport network and linking key destinations throughout the city.
