Saudi, Qatari foreign ministers discuss regional de-escalation in Riyadh

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Riyadh on Wednesday.

The ministers reviewed relations between Saudi Arabia and Qatar and discussed areas of bilateral cooperation.

They also considered ways to further develop ties in line with the aspirations of the leaderships and peoples of both countries.

The talks covered the latest regional developments and diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and maintain security and stability across the region.

Prince Faisal and Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation between their countries.

They also called for unified positions on current developments to support wider efforts to consolidate regional security and stability.

The two ministers affirmed their support for Qatari and Pakistani mediation efforts and their role in advancing the settlement of disputes through diplomatic means.

They also stressed the need to continue joint efforts to ensure security, safety and freedom of navigation through the region’s vital maritime corridors.
