Saudi Arabia has introduced a smart interactive map system at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah to assist visitors and Umrah pilgrims with navigation.
Eng launched the system. Ghazi Al-Shahrani, CEO of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. It provides real-time route updates and location-based guidance to help worshippers move more efficiently within the Two Holy Mosques.
Al-Shahrani said the service improves wayfinding by providing updated information to support safe movement, particularly during periods of congestion or temporary closures.
The authority said the maps are linked to live operational data and connected to control rooms, allowing visitors to be directed to suitable routes based on current conditions.
The initiative forms part of wider efforts to expand digital services and integrate smart technologies to manage visitor flow and enhance the experience of worshippers at the two sites.
