Authorities in Makkah have announced the launch of free luggage storage facilities for Umrah performers, aiming to enhance their experience and convenience during their pilgrimage.
The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque confirmed that storage facilities are available on both sides of the Grand Mosque. These locations include areas to the east near the Makkah Library and to the west near Gate 64.
To access the service, Umrah performers must present their permits through the Nusuk app, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency. The facilities allow the storage of bags weighing up to 7 kilograms for a maximum of four hours. However, only properly packed bags are accepted, with loose items, valuables, prohibited items, food and medicine not permitted for storage. A claim ticket must be presented to retrieve stored belongings.
The authority also revealed plans to expand the service to cover all areas surrounding the Grand Mosque, ensuring better support for visitors in the future. This initiative underscores efforts to provide a seamless and organized experience for pilgrims in the holy city.
