Maharashtra Day celebration in Riyadh features cultural events, health camp

A Maharashtra Day event in Riyadh brought together members of the Marathi community in the Saudi capital, with a program focused on culture, history and community outreach.

The celebration was organised by Me Marathi Parivar Riyadh (MMPR) and marked Maharashtra Day 2026 with a series of activities featuring the traditions and heritage of the Indian state.




 The event featured cultural performances including traditional dances, music and theatre, with participation from different age groups.

A youth-led exhibition was among the main highlights, where children presented projects on Maharashtra’s festivals and cultural landmarks. The display drew strong response from attendees.

Organisers also held a free health check-up camp during the event, offering medical screenings and consultations to members of the community.

The event was attended by Sabir, Counsellor for Community Welfare at the Embassy of India, along with members of the All India Steering Committee including Zaigham Khan, Shihab Kottukad, Dr Anwar Kurshid, Saleem Mahe, Abdulahad Siddiqui, Gulam Khan, Mazaruddin and Mohammed Mubeen.

They expressed support for efforts to maintain cultural ties among the Indian community abroad.

The event was organised by a committee that included Abhishek Arole, Prashant Chaudhary, Devendra Bhangale, Sushil Gavane, Sunil Pawar, Anand Hiremath and Vishal Muthukrishnan.

Organisers said the gathering aimed to maintain cultural links and promote Maharashtra’s identity among the diaspora in Riyadh.
