Oman Air pursues IndiGo codeshare, prepares fleet expansion

Oman Air is in advanced talks with India’s IndiGo Airlines to form a codeshare partnership that would give the carrier access to a wider network of Indian cities through IndiGo’s domestic and regional routes, Chief Commercial Officer Mike Rutter said. He noted that the arrangement would strengthen connectivity between India, Oman and onward destinations through Muscat.

India is one of Oman Air’s largest markets and the airline has increased frequencies to several Indian cities while pursuing additional growth under existing bilateral agreements.

Oman Air CEO Con Korfiatis said the airline is assessing four to five new destinations for 2026 as part of its long-term network plan following its entry into the oneworld alliance. He said route decisions are being evaluated based on commercial viability, fleet availability and strategic priorities under a five-year network framework.

The carrier is also expanding its fleet in phases. Oman Air operates nine Boeing 787s, with another aircraft set to return to the fleet soon, bringing the total to ten. Six more Boeing 787s are scheduled for delivery beginning in 2027.

Its Boeing 737 fleet is also growing, with one additional aircraft due in January and more narrow-body capacity planned from 2026 to support regional and medium-haul expansion.
