Oman to extend the closure of its land borders for another week until February 1st to curb the spread of the coronavirus, state news agency ONA said on Sunday.
Oman's Ministry of Interior said the closure which initially came into effect on 18th January, will last until 18:00 local time on February 1. The Gulf state's coronavirus emergency committee stated that appropriate precautionary measures will be ensured for the protection of all members of the community through its follow-up and ongoing assessment of the status of HIV infections.
The decision came as the committee observed a significant increase in the number of infected cases in the sultanate and in addition, to the noncompliance of the precautionary measures amongst people. Earlier, the authorities had warned of possible extensions though the closure of borders was set to last only a week.
