Thiruvananthapuram: A case has been registered by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate here against Adani Sports CEO Karan Adani and other seven for cheating a company which procured a sub-contract for Vizhinjam International Port project. The court has imposed charge of cheating against the accused under Section 420 of IPC.
The court has also issued summons to the accused to appear in the court in person. The court filed the case after it accepted a private petition filed by Girish Pillai, the owner of Megha Trading Company, which procured a sub-contract of the project.
Megha Trading Company had taken a contract to supply dolerite required for the port project. However, the respondent has failed to remit Rs. 74 crore which is due to the petitioner. All the cheques given by the respondents had bounced from different banks .
Howe Engineering Project India is the first accused in the case. Adani Ports CEO Karan Adani is the 8th accused in the case. However, the ACJM Court posted the matter to consider later.
