Adani Group to invest Rs 20,000 crore in Bihar power plant, creating thousands of jobs

The Adani Group has announced plans to invest Rs 20,000 crore in establishing a state-of-the-art thermal power plant in Bihar.

Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises, shared this major development during the Bihar Business Connect event in Patna on Friday.

Pranav Adani revealed that the ultra-supercritical thermal power plant is expected to generate significant employment opportunities, with 12,000 jobs during the pre-commissioning phase and 1,500 skilled roles in the operational phase. "We are committed to enhancing Bihar's energy landscape with this ambitious project, which will also contribute to local job creation," he said.

Highlighting the Adani Group's status as Bihar's largest private investor, Adani stated that the conglomerate has already invested over Rs 8,500 crore in the logistics, gas distribution, and agri-logistics sectors, generating 2,500 jobs. An additional Rs 2,300 crore will be allocated to these sectors to enhance warehousing and handling capacity, creating another 25,000 local jobs.

Moreover, the group is collaborating with the Bihar government to explore a further Rs 1,000 crore investment in strategic infrastructure projects, including Gati Shakti railway terminals, inland container depots (ICDs), and industrial warehousing parks.

The Adani Group has also invested Rs 2,100 crore to install over 28 lakh smart meters across five cities in Bihar. This initiative aims to modernize power consumption monitoring and is projected to create 4,000 local jobs in the technology sector.

Pranav Adani lauded Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, commending his vision for the state’s growth. "The Chief Minister’s relentless focus on improving the business environment has set an example for the nation and inspired Adani Group’s ongoing investments in Bihar," Adani said.
