Wayanad: A group of tourists attacked a tribal youth and dragged him along the road from a moving car in Wayanad's Mananthavady in Kerala. The tribal man allegedly intervened in a dispute between two groups of tourists who were visiting a check dam here. The victim, named Mathan, was dragged along the road for half a kilometre, it is learned.
A video has emerged showing the youth being dragged by holding his hand to the car door.
The dispute broke out between two groups at the spot, and when locals intervened after noticing the issue, the commotion burgeoned, as per reports.
The victim tried to stop one of the tourists from using a stone to attack, it is learned. After this, he got attacked and was dragged along the road. When more locals gathered, the attackers fled the scene.
Mathan, who was injured in his waist and arms, has been admitted to Mananthavady Medical College.
The Mananthavady police have registered a case of attempt to murder in the incident. They have started a search for the Maruti Celerio car with registration number KL 52 H 8733.
