New Delhi: Security has been tightened at the Delhi High Court after the Registrar General received a bomb threat via email late Wednesday evening.
The February 12 email sent by one Balavant Desai warns that a blast will take place on Thursday and that it would be the biggest blast in Delhi.
“I will blow you up with a bomb on 15/02/2024. This will be the biggest blast. You may enhance your security as much as possible and call all the ministers. Everyone will be blown up,” the email read.
Following the email, high court authorities have written a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.
The letter stated that the competent authority of the high court has taken serious note of the matter and requested the commissioner to enhance security arrangements in and around the high court complex forthwith.
An inquiry into the email is also being conducted and a security drill is also being conducted in the High Court today.
Delhi High Court Bar Association President and senior advocate Mohit Mathur said keeping in mind that a bomb blast had taken place outside the high court earlier, authorities don’t want to take a risk and security has been tightened.
