Child gets injured in Kerala's Kannur after ice-cream container explodes

Kannur: A 12-year-old boy got injured after a bomb in an ice-cream container shaped like a ball exploded, The News Minute reported. The boy was with a group of children, but others had not got injured, the police said. Two more unexploded balls were also found from the spot, and they are under scientific analysis, police said.

Police further said they were investigating the origin of the bombs and who put them in the ice-cream containers. They said that the children were playing cricket, and their ball fell into the nearby property. While searching for it, they found and picked up three of the bombs, unaware that they were not balls. One of the balls exploded when the 12-year-old threw it while playing.

Police added that this is the second incident of the kind in the Kannur district this year. Two children got injured earlier in a similar blast. The incident took place near Padikachal in Kannur's Muzhakkunnu police station limits. In the past also, similar incidents were reported.

In 2019, a bomb stored in the house of an RSS activist burst, injuring two children in his family and police had booked him.

In September last year, a blast happened where a group of men were allegedly making steel bombs. One of the injured out of the incident was an accused in the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader TP Chandrasekharan.
