Kannur: A 10-year-old boy died and three other children were injured in Kerala’s Kannur district after firecrackers allegedly left behind following celebrations by UDF activists exploded while the children were bursting them, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place near Azhikode around 11 am on Monday. According to police, the children were handling firecrackers left over from celebrations held after the swearing-in of V D Satheesan as Chief Minister, along with his Cabinet.
Police said a case under Section 194(1) (unnatural death) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita has been registered in connection with the incident.
