Kannur: A booth-level officer in Kannur has died by suicide, with his family alleging that pressure related to work for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) led to the tragedy. The deceased has been identified as Aneesh George, 44, the BLO of booth number 18 in the Payyannur constituency.
According to relatives, Aneesh had spoken at home about the mounting pressure linked to SIR duties. He is believed to have taken his life this morning while his family members were away at church.
The family says the strain of SIR-related tasks was the primary reason behind his death. Aneesh had reportedly mentioned the work stress to those at home. Relatives also said he had faced tensions after involving certain political party leaders during the distribution of SIR forms. Delays in completing form-related procedures had added to the pressure, they claimed.
His wife said Aneesh went to bed very late last night, adding that he had been working on SIR assignments until around 1am. She also confirmed that he had spoken repeatedly about the stress arising from his duties.
