AK Antony's wife reveals son’s BJP joining is the result of her prayer at ‘Kripasanam’

Alapuzha: Elizabeth Antony, the wife of veteran Congress leader AK Antony and the mother of Anil Antony, has revealed that her son joined the BJP after she prayed at the ‘Kripaasanam’ a meditation centre in Alappuzha, Kerala.

In a video on the ‘Kripaasanam’ YouTube channel, Elizabeth asserted that prayer played a pivotal role in helping her overcome her animosity and anger towards the BJP.

This marks the first occasion that Elizabeth Antony has publicly discussed her son's choice to align with the BJP. She explains that Anil's decision came as a shock to her husband, AK Antony, but she prayed for his acceptance of it.

Elizabeth Antony shared her son’s desire to participate in politics. Despite his overseas education and successful career, Anil returned to India due to his political aspirations.

She said that she prayed fervently for his entry into politics. However, the resolution passed at the Congress party's 'Chindan Shibiram,' which discouraged the promotion of leaders' children within the party, was a setback for him, she said. She also added that her husband, Antony, had reservations about promoting his son within the party.

Following her prayers at the meditation centre, ‘Kripaasanam’, Anil contacted his mother, Elizabath revealing that he had received an offer from the BJP . Initially hesitant, Elizabeth Antony sought guidance through prayer to the Virgin Mary.

A priest at the ‘Kripaasanam’ counselled her against attempting to bring Anil back to the Congress Party, assuring her that the BJP offered promising opportunities. Elizabeth Antony credits this prayerful guidance for altering her perspective and accepting her son's decision.

She said she also prayed for her husband, who had been experiencing discouragement and had withdrawn from politics. On the 15th of this month, he was miraculously re-elected to the party's working committee, she said adding that the development rekindled his confidence and prompted him to resume his political engagements and travels.
