BJP hartal in Kasaragod turns violent

Kasaragod: The dawn-to-dusk hartal called by the BJP in Kasaragod district in protest against the alleged attacks on the party members by CPI-M workers has turned violent on Tuesday. 

In several places, the protesting BJP workers pelted stones at the CPI-M offices. After the protests turned violent, the police reportedly burst teargas shells to disperse them.

On Monday, tension had prevailed in Cheruvathur in Kasaragod where senior RSS and BJP leaders, including party State general secretary K. Surendran, were arrested when they resorted to a National Highway blockade to protest attack by CPI-M activists on BJP workers in the town.

The BJP leaders resorted to the blockade to protest against the alleged attack by CPI-M workers.
