RSS worker arrested in Kerala for abusive, Islamophobic comments on minor girl’s photo
Kerala police have arrested Vimal Shivashakthi, a worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), over allegations that he posted sexually abusive and Islamophobic comments targeting a young girl on Facebook.
The arrest was made by Muzhakkunnu police, according to Young Democrats leader Younus Vilakkode. A local court later remanded the accused in judicial custody.
The objectionable comments were allegedly posted below a photograph of the girl being felicitated after qualifying for a national-level abacus competition.
Vilakkode said the remarks were deeply offensive and targeted the child on both sexual and religious grounds.
Both Vilakkode and the girl’s father filed complaints with the police after the comments came to light.
Police identified the accused as an RSS worker from Azhiyur and took him into custody following the complaints.
