Nine killed in Afghan suicide bombing

Kabul: At least nine people were killed and five injured Monday in a suicide attack in Afghanistan's Logar province.

"A suicide bomber approached the entrance of provincial police department in Pul-e-Alam and detonated his explosive jacket among a group of Afghan Local Police (ALP) who were waiting for access," an official told Xinhua.

The bomber disguised himself as an ALP policeman, the official said.

The victims were seven police personnel, the bomber and a civilian.

The attack followed two explosions in Nangarhar province and in Afghan capital of Kabul earlier in the day, which claimed the lives of three senior police officials and injured three others.

The Taliban have claimed responsibility for Monday's serial blasts.
