Two fatal stabbings in Hyderabad spark concern over public safety

Hyderabad: A history-sheeter succumbed to injuries on Thursday after being stabbed in full public view at Jagadgirigutta, Telangana, marking the second fatal stabbing in Hyderabad in two days.

Roshan Singh (26) died at Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad, after being attacked on Wednesday evening near the Jagadgirigutta bus stand. According to police, he was stabbed multiple times in the stomach by fellow history-sheeter Baleshwar Reddy (23), while an accomplice restrained him. Locals and motorists, shocked by the violence, did not intervene.

Despite profuse bleeding, Roshan managed to flee the scene before collapsing. The assailants escaped on a motorbike. CCTV footage captured the incident, prompting police to rush to the spot and shift Roshan to hospital. All three accused were later arrested. Police said the attack stemmed from a financial dispute and confirmed Roshan had multiple criminal cases, including one for murder.

The incident follows another brutal killing on Tuesday in the Nacharam area. Murali Krishna (45), a painter from Uppal’s Kalyanpuri, was murdered by three men and a teenager after a petty argument over spilled chutney at a roadside eatery.

Murali Krishna had accepted a lift from the group near LB Nagar. After stopping for a late-night snack near the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), an argument broke out when chutney from his plate spilled onto one of the men. The situation escalated when Krishna allegedly used abusive language.

The group forced him back into the car and drove around for two hours, assaulting him and burning him with cigarettes. They later stabbed him to death in an isolated part of Nacharam industrial area. The accused, Mohammed Junaid (18), Shaik Saifuddin (18), P. Manikanta (21), and a 16-year-old minor, were arrested based on CCTV evidence.

Both incidents have raised alarm over rising street violence and the need for stronger public safety measures.
