Teacher's death: Protest against BJP and UT boil in J&K

Samba: People in Jammu's Samba district on Tuesday came out on the streets blocking the Pathankot-Jammu national highway, protesting against BJP and the Union Territory administration for failing to protect them from militant attacks.

A school teacher in Samba was killed by terrorists the other day in a spate of sporadic attacks that started weeks before.

Blocking the high way yesterday people in Samba demanded employees from the division be moved out of the valley, The Indian Express reported.

The school teacher Rejni Bala's death plunged valley in grief and protest with politicians cutting across parties coming out to condemn it.

Residents and teachers here, according to The Indian Express, raised slogans against BJP and Union Territory administration.

One teacher was quoted as terming the government a big failure in protecting minorities in Kashmir.

The protesters, reportedly, said employees from Jammu posted in Kashmir would not return to the Valley until the government ensured security.

They have been posted there as part of an inter-district appointment scheme under the Scheduled Caste quota, according to the report.

The UT administration is under huge pressure from Kashmir Pandits working in Kashmir demanding security.

The demand for security became intense after a revenue department employee Rahul Bhat was shot dead last month.

BJP state chief Ravinder Raina and MP for Poonch constituency Jugal Kishore faced were greeted with angry slogan as they visited Rajni Bala's in-laws.

Rajni Bala's grieving relatives, especially her husband Raj Kumar called out the administration for not transferring them to a safer area.
