Kashmiri Hindus welcome Hajj pilgrims with aarti

Srinagar: Pilgrims returning from Hajj were seen being welcomed by Kashmiri Hindus at Srinagar airport. The video clip showed people doing aarti for the pilgrims, signing Islamic religious songs, shaking hands, and giving them roses.

In the video shared on Twitter Uttar Pradesh MLA Abbas Bin Mukhtar Ansari said Kashmiri Pandits lined up outside the airport to sing 'Naat', poetry praising Prophet Muhammad, and congratulated Muslims returning from Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

In the caption, he wrote: "When the pilgrims who returned after performing Haj came out of the Srinagar airport, Kashmiri Pandit brothers welcomed and congratulated them by performing aarti while reciting the Naat".

He added that he hopes this love doesn't catch the evil eyes of politics.

In a show of religious harmony and love, the group was seen joyously singing and helping each other with luggage.

Mohit Bhan, a Kashmiri Pandit entrepreneur, originally shared the video on Twitter. He wrote: "This is our syncretic culture. Believers of Islam are enablers of Amarnath Yatra and the followers of Shaivism are messengers of unity".

The first batch of 410 pilgrims returned from Saudi Arabia on Saturday and 145 of them landed in Srinagar. Kashmir's Divisional Commissioner P.K. Pole, Central Kashmir DIG Sujit Kumar, and Haj committee officials were also at the airport to receive the pilgrims. The last flight carrying pilgrims from Mecca is expected to land in Srinagar on August 1.
