Mumbai: Maharashtra C M Uddav Thaackery went overboard on Saturday in his support to the fleeing Kashmiri pandits saying the state will stand firmly with them.
Uddhav Thackeray in a statement further said the state will do everything possible to help them, The Indian Express reported.
Condemning the targeted killing in the valley, he said Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus are fleeing the valley just as the entire country is expressing anger.
Taking a dig at BJP he said Pandits were assured of Ghar Wapsi but mass exodus of them is continuing. He promised to stand firmly behind them in his capacity as the head of Shiv Sena and CM.
In1995 when Shiv Sena came to power in the state, Bal Thackeray had given special reservation in education to children of Pandits who had fled the valley, he recalled.
Thackeray also said "we" are closely monitoring the situation alongside having talks with the Kashmiri pundits.
